BJJ Academies in Paraná.
Paraná has one of southern Brazil's longest-running BJJ federations. The Federação de Jiu-Jitsu do Paraná (FJJPR) was founded October 15, 1998 under president Evanri Gurgel — described as a precursor of jiu-jitsu in southern Brazil and the only Coral rank instructor in the state. FJJPR runs the Campeonato Paranaense circuit across multi-stage etapas in Curitiba, Foz do Iguaçu, and other state venues; the 2026 third stage runs April 18 in Foz do Iguaçu. A second body, the Federação Paranaense de Jiu-Jitsu Brasileiro (FPJJB), provides additional state-level coverage.
Curitiba is the state capital and the historical center of Brazilian combat sports beyond BJJ. Chute Boxe Academy was founded in 1978 by brothers Rudimar and Rafael Fedrigo in Curitiba and produced Pride/UFC legends Wanderlei Silva, Mauricio "Shogun" Rua, and Anderson Silva. Though Chute Boxe's identity is striking-led, its roster carries serious BJJ credentials.
