BJJ Academies in Poland.
Poland is one of Europe's strongest BJJ markets, with 300+ black belts and a rapidly growing reputation as a training destination. The country's most decorated competitor is Adam Wardziński — a Checkmat black belt under Alan "Finfou" do Nascimento, and the first Polish grappler to win an IBJJF World title. Wardziński won a second IBJJF World heavyweight title at the 2025 World Championship — becoming the first European to win an IBJJF Grand Slam — and announced his retirement immediately afterward.
Wardziński coaches at Checkmat Poznań alongside instructor Andrzej Stolzmann; his BJJ roots trace back to Karol Matuszczak — a Polish grappling pioneer and black belt under Roy Harris and Joe Moreira — who taught him as a teenager in Poznań. The academy regularly hosts visiting black belts including Alan Finfou, Lucas Leite, Darragh O'Connell, and Gabriela Fechter.
Beyond Poznań, Warsaw's BJJ surface includes Dragon's Den Fight Club and a growing cluster of city academies running gi and no-gi.
