BJJ Academies in Rio Grande do Sul.
Rio Grande do Sul's BJJ scene runs through two state-level bodies. FJJRS (Federação de Jiu-Jitsu do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul) has regulated jiu-jitsu in the state since 2001 and runs the main domestic circuit. The Federação Sport Jiu-Jitsu do Rio Grande do Sul provides parallel coverage and is affiliated with the South American Sport Jiu-Jitsu Federation (founded 2013) and the Sport Jiu-Jitsu International Federation (SJJIF).
Porto Alegre is the state capital and BJJ center of gravity. Drill Brazilian Jiu Jitsu School at Rua Barão do Rio Grande 10 in the Boa Vista neighborhood was founded by Master Fernando Paradeda — described as a 3-time World Champion with 30+ years dedicated to the sport. Winner Behring Jiu-Jitsu Porto Alegre was founded in 1994 by Professor Marcio Corleta; the academy is described on its site as one of the pioneering jiu-jitsu academies in Rio Grande do Sul.
