BJJ Academies in Ontario.
Ontario's BJJ scene runs under the Ontario Jiu-Jitsu Association (OJA) — the Provincial Sports Organization for Jiu-Jitsu in Ontario — with the Ontario Grappling Alliance (OGA) providing parallel coverage as the PSO for amateur MMA, grappling, BJJ, Muay Thai, and Pankration. The Ontario Open International Jiu-Jitsu Championship is the province's flagship gi event, drawing nearly 2,000 competitors at its May 2025 edition in Oshawa.
Toronto anchors the southern Ontario BJJ surface. Gracie Barra runs multiple Toronto schools, including Gracie Barra West Downtown Toronto (521 Adelaide St W) and Gracie Barra Toronto East (68 Railside Rd). Toronto BJJ is a long-established city academy, alongside SBG Toronto and BJJ Battalion in Etobicoke. The IBJJF holds the Toronto International Open every September at Toronto Pan Am Sports Centre.
Ottawa is the province's secondary BJJ hub with Gracie Barra Ottawa, Patenaude Martial Arts, Eastside Jiu-Jitsu Club in Orleans, and Ottawa Jiu Jitsu rounding out the local surface.
