BJJ Academies in Spain.

Spain's BJJ surface centers on Madrid and Barcelona, with Sevilla and Valencia as long-established secondary hubs. The Real Federación Española de Judo y Deportes Asociados (RFEJUDO) oversees jiu-jitsu as an associated sport and runs the Campeonato de España de Jiu-Jitsu (the 2025 absolute championship was held March 15–16). Beyond RFEJUDO, the Spain BJJ Tour — founded by FIJJD delegate Joao Barreto, with the inaugural Spain BJJ Cup held in Valencia on May 22, 2021 (521 athletes) — runs a national circuit.

Madrid is a year-round competition hub. The IBJJF Madrid International Open ran March 7–8, 2026 at Pabellón Amaya Valdemoro in Alcobendas. The AJP Tour Continental Europe Championship was held at Polideportivo José Caballero in Madrid on June 7–8, 2025, alongside the AJP Tour Spain National Championship.

The academy map is well-developed. Gracie Barra Sevilla is described as the first official Gracie Barra school in Spain, with instructors Professor André and Diojone Farias. Gracie Barra Madrid is led by Carlos Mediero. Atos Jiu-Jitsu School Barcelona sits at Carrer d'Entença 63 under head instructor Gustavo Galvão (3rd-degree black belt, in Barcelona since 2010). Reinaldo Ribeiro Team is in Gràcia, Barcelona. Roger Gracie Sevilla (Calle Lope de Vega 6) is directed by Ángel Revuelta (1st-degree black belt under Roger Gracie). Checkmat Madrid is the team's Madrid affiliate. Barcelona has a steady summer-camp tourism layer — Cicero Costha runs an annual Barcelona Summer Family Camp.
