BJJ Academies in South Korea.

South Korea's BJJ scene is run under the Korea Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation, the national governing body. The IBJJF Seoul International Open returns annually, organized by International BJJ Inc. in partnership with the IBJJF.

Seoul anchors the country's scene. Wire Jiu-Jitsu in Jamsil is led by Professor Yongwon Choi — a black belt who trained Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in Los Angeles after completing his military service in Korea — and runs competition classes on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Gracie Allegiance Seoul carries the Gracie Allegiance team affiliation in the country.

South Korea's most decorated competitor to date is Kira Sung — born and raised in Seoul, she became the first IBJJF World Champion produced by South Korea, taking the title in 2018 at purple belt.
