Auckland is New Zealand's BJJ center of gravity, with the deepest concentration of academies in the country. The New Zealand Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Federation (NZBJJF) is the country's main federation and runs the national ranking circuit out of the Auckland metro.

Tu Kaha BJJ runs out of Auckland CBD with gi and no-gi BJJ alongside wrestling and judo. DS Team Jiujitsu sits in Auckland Central. Auckland BJJ is at 35 Church St, Onehunga. VR Jiu-Jitsu operates from 56a Ben Lomond Crescent in Pakuranga Heights (east Auckland). GC Team NZ runs multiple locations in the metro, including Glen Innes. Smaller affiliated rooms include Grappling-Lab BJJ Club, GroundControl Martial Arts, Alliance Jiu Jitsu St Johns, Daredevil Jiu Jitsu, and Cornerstone BJJ.
