Florida is the East Coast U.S. BJJ hub. The IBJJF Pan Championship — the sport's continental championship, run annually since 1996 — is held at Silver Spurs Arena in Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee (1875 Silver Spur Lane); the 2026 edition runs March 24–29. Florida also hosts three other annual IBJJF Internationals: Miami Winter, Orlando Spring, and Orlando Summer. The ADCC North American East Coast Trials run at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando.
The academy map is anchored by American Top Team in Coconut Creek, founded in 2001 by Dan Lambert with Marcus and Marcelo Silveira and Brazilian Top Team co-founder Ricardo Liborio (a Carlson Gracie black belt). ATT was named World MMA Awards "Gym of the Year" four years running (2016–2019) and has produced a long list of UFC champions.
Miami's BJJ scene is dense and Brazilian-influenced. Mario Sperry Jiu-Jitsu Miami sits at 760 NW 4th St in Downtown — Sperry is a Brazilian Top Team co-founder. Rilion Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Academy is at 2100 Coral Way; Rilion is the youngest son of Carlos Gracie Sr. and is described on the academy's site as the only Gracie family member teaching in Florida. Carlson Gracie Miami at 4033 SW 152nd Ave (opened 2008) is run by Michel "Buiu" Pereira. Team Popovitch BJJ Center in Fort Lauderdale, founded in 1995, is led by Jorge Popovitch and son Pablo (multi-time IBJJF No-Gi World Champion).
