BJJ Academies in Texas.
Texas is one of the largest U.S. BJJ markets, with Austin emerging as a hub for modern no-gi grappling content after the 2021 Danaher Death Squad split. Six Blades Jiu-Jitsu Austin (13642 US 183 #300) was founded by Alexandre "Xande" Ribeiro, the 7-time IBJJF gi world champion and 2-time ADCC champion. Gracie Humaita Austin sits at 321 W Ben White Blvd under head instructor Paulo "Coelho" Brandao, where former UFC fighter Tim Kennedy trains and teaches. 10th Planet Austin runs out of 4509 Freidrich Ln. Renzo Gracie Austin is at 4631 Airport Blvd. Kingsway Jiu-Jitsu (formerly New Wave, John Danaher's team) is also based in Austin.
In Dallas–Fort Worth, Travis Lutter Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu sits in Fort Worth under Travis Lutter — a Carlos Machado black belt and TUF 4 winner. Multiple Gracie Barra schools cover the metro, including Gracie Barra Frisco. Houston's coverage runs through a Renzo Gracie Texas network across Sugar Land, Lake Houston, the Heights, Pearland, EADO, and Richmond, plus Carlson Gracie Houston at 1210 S Frazier St in Conroe.
The competition calendar is dense: IBJJF Houston International Open at NRG Park Hall C (the 2026 No-Gi runs April 11), the IBJJF Austin Winter International Open at Round Rock Sports Center (Feb 20–22, 2026), an annual IBJJF Austin Summer Open, plus AJP Tour Texas stops, NAGA Houston, and NAGA San Antonio.
