BJJ Academies in Germany.

Germany's BJJ surface is split between an established Munich anchor and a Berlin scene that hosts European outposts of top Brazilian teams. Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Bund Deutschland e.V. (BJJBD), based in Karlsdorf-Neuthard, runs the regional competition series — Bavarian Battle Trials, Westside, Southside, and Newcomer Battle Trials.

Munich is the IBJJF hub. The Munich International Open IBJJF Championship is set for June 20–21, 2026 at TSV Munich-Milbertshofen e.V. (Hans-Denzinger-Strasse 2, 80807 Munich). Hutton Academy describes itself as Munich's first BJJ academy, founded 2002. Munich MMA, established 2007, is run by head coach Benedikt Schotthöfer (BJJ black belt under Sergio "Canudo" Zimmermann). Pound for Pound München runs multiple competition-oriented Munich locations.

Berlin's role is as a destination for top Brazilian teams. BJJ Fightzone Checkmat Berlin sits at Marktstraße 6 in Friedrichshain (Ostkreuz), affiliated with the São Paulo–origin Checkmat team. Cicero Costha PSLPB Berlin runs out of Ringside Gym Berlin at Herzbergstraße 87-99 in Lichtenberg, an affiliate of Cícero Costha's São Paulo HQ.

Beyond Munich and Berlin, the academy map spreads across the country: Gracie Barra Sternschanze in Hamburg (Schulterblatt 122f), Alliance Jiu-Jitsu Frankfurt / Offenbach under Henry Navorra (Fabio Gurgel black belt), and Nova Academy Cologne (Moselstraße 60). The ADCC Germany / West European Open's 2024 edition was held at Ratiopharm Arena, Neu-Ulm.
