Scotland's BJJ scene runs primarily out of Glasgow, with Edinburgh as a secondary hub. UKBJJA — the United Kingdom Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Association — was recognized in 2021 by the Sports Councils of England, Wales, Scotland, and Northern Ireland as the official National Governing Body for BJJ in the UK.
The Griphouse Academy in Glasgow, founded in 2005 by Guy Ramsey and Paul McVeigh, is one of the longest-running BJJ rooms in the country and has produced multiple high-level competitors. Glasgow Jiu Jitsu Academy is led by Ricky Gillon — a 3rd-degree black belt with 32+ years of jiu-jitsu experience. MNBJJ (Marcos Nardini Brazilian Jiu Jitsu) is run by 3rd-degree black belt Marcos Nardini — a European and multiple-time IBJJF Champion. Connection Gracie Jiu-Jitsu is described as Scotland's only Jiu-Jitsu Global Federation–certified academy, with classes under a Rickson Gracie black belt. Ronin Grappling is led by Christian Graugart black belt Giles Garcia.
