BJJ Academies in Leinster.
Leinster is Ireland's most populous province and the country's BJJ center of gravity — Dublin runs the national federation layer and the deepest cluster of academies in the country.
Straight Blast Gym Ireland (SBG Ireland), founded in 2001 by John Kavanagh, has its primary HQ in Dublin's Inchicore district. Kavanagh was awarded Ireland's first BJJ black belt in 2007 and is now a 3rd-degree black belt; SBG has produced Conor McGregor, Aisling Daly, Gunnar Nelson, and Dillon Danis. SBG Charlestown is owned and managed by Owen Roddy — a BJJ black belt and former Cage Warriors bantamweight world champion. JSBJJ Training Centre is another Dublin-based academy. The Ireland BJJ tournament organization runs the country's main competition circuit out of Dublin.
