Lazio — the Italian region containing Rome — is the country's BJJ competition center of gravity. The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Rome was held February 13–15, 2026 at the Centro Olimpico Matteo Pellicone (PalaFijlkam), with the AJP NO-GI Rome International Jiu-Jitsu Championship on the same weekend. The annual Italian Cup runs at Palasport Torrino in Rome (the 11th edition was held December 13, 2025).

In Rome, Saverio Longo teaches BJJ no-gi, grappling, and MMA at Universal Gym (Piazza Monte Baldo 14). The country's BJJ federations — Unione Italiana Jiu Jitsu (UIJJ) and BJJ ITALIA (the BJJ sector of ASC, an entity of CONI) — both maintain operations across the region.
