BJJ Academies in Italy.
Italy's BJJ scene runs under Unione Italiana Jiu Jitsu (UIJJ), the country's main BJJ federation, which maintains a registry of certified athletes, academies, and black belts. BJJ ITALIA — the BJJ sector of ASC (Associazione Sport e Comunità, an entity of the Italian National Olympic Committee CONI) — provides parallel federated coverage.
Rome is the country's competition center of gravity. The Abu Dhabi Grand Slam Jiu-Jitsu World Tour Rome was held February 13–15, 2026 at the Centro Olimpico Matteo Pellicone (PalaFijlkam), with the AJP NO-GI Rome International Jiu-Jitsu Championship on the same weekend. The annual Italian Cup runs at Palasport Torrino in Rome (the 11th edition was held December 13, 2025). The AJP Tour Italy National Jiu-Jitsu Championship — gi and no-gi — ran October 5, 2025.
Milan's anchor is Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Milano, described as the only Italian academy certified by the Pedro Sauer Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association. L'Accademia is another Milan-based Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and functional training school. In Rome, Saverio Longo teaches BJJ no-gi, grappling, and MMA at Universal Gym (Piazza Monte Baldo 14).
