North Holland (Noord-Holland) is the Netherlands' BJJ center of gravity — the province containing Amsterdam runs the country's main scene.

Carlson Gracie Amsterdam at Burgemeester de Vlugtlaan 125 is led by head instructor Marcos Flexa — a 6th-degree Carlson Gracie black belt, awarded directly by Master Carlson Gracie in 1997 — who founded the academy in 2002. Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Amsterdam is described on its site as the first Gracie Jiu-Jitsu Certified Training Center in the Netherlands. BJJAA (Brazilian Jiu Jitsu Academy Amsterdam) was founded in 2014. Focus Jiu Jitsu sits in Amsterdam Oost, and DODO Jiu Jitsu is in central Amsterdam. Team Agua runs locations in Amsterdam, Rotterdam, and Den Haag.

The country's main BJJ federation, BJJ Federatie Nederland (bjj.nl), and the parallel Judo Bond Nederland (JBN) both maintain presence in the province.
