BJJ Academies in Portugal.
Portugal's BJJ scene runs under the Federação Portuguesa de Jiu-Jitsu Brasileiro (FPJJB) — the country's national governing body. Portugal is unusual among European BJJ markets in that instructors are required by law to hold a Trainer's Certificate for Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu issued by the Instituto Português do Desporto e Juventude (IPDJ).
Lisbon is the country's competition center of gravity. The FPJJB hosts major events in the Lisbon area, including the IBJJF European Jiu-Jitsu Championship and the annual Lisboa Open. Gracie Lisboa, on Rua Cel. Bento Roma 49A near the CUF hospital east of central Lisbon, runs Gracie Jiu-Jitsu and self-defense training under chief instructor João.
